A Relentless Forward Movement

READ

“Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Messiah.” (Acts 5:42)

THINK

I love rugby league, which in my humble opinion is the only real type of rugby there is. However, in both rugby league and rugby union, you will often hear a commentator talking about how a team can get a roll on and the opposition then struggle to contain the relentless forward movement. This is what we see right at the end of Acts 5. We’re told that the early church “never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Messiah”. This was day-in-day-out relentless forward movement. This was a courageous outworking of the Kingdom of God coming ‘here on earth’. The opposition didn’t know what had hit them and was struggling to contain the relentless forward movement of the people of God!

What about us? Are we “Day after day, in the temple courts [when we gather] and from house to house [when we scatter] taking every opportunity to speak about the victory of Christ? I want to be part of a church and family of churches where we ‘get a roll on’ and see great advance for the kingdom of God. However, this won’t happen through the one’s and two’s, but through all of us relentlessly taking every day-to-day opportunity to share about Jesus — because he really is the Messiah, that means the anointed rescuer, and my friends and your friends need to meet him!

PRAY

Dear Father, I pray for the Kingsgate family, would you help us to ‘get a roll on’ and see a relentless forward movement as we take every opportunity to show those around us that Jesus is the Messiah. Amen
