HERE IS A PRAYER IF YOU ARE FEELING PARCHED BY THIS CURRENT PANDEMIC:
Sovereign Lord, with parched hearts, caused by the disruptive effects of this pandemic, we turn our eyes to you and pray.
We long for the days when hands can be shaken, hugs can be administered, coffee cups can be slurped (and on occasions, spilt!) and when kids can run and twirl without restraint! We long for community! However, not just any run-of-the-mill community, but a devoted one where scripture is read, taught and lived out; where prayer is the oxygen that sustains us and communion is celebrated as the centrepiece of this resurrection community!
Yet in these days of waiting and longing and waiting and longing, these Easter-Saturday-like days, would you reconstruct us!
Where there is fretfulness and fatigue, let them be swallowed up in patience and ‘leaning-in’ hope.
Where there is adrenaline or coffee-fueled restlessness, let them be replaced by Easter-morning-like knowing and being known.
Where fear clouds the mind and cynicism cripples the heart, let them be enveloped by resurrection joy and ‘in-person’ communion with Jesus.
