Cat & Dog Theology

I’m currently reading Daniel L. Akin and Honathan Akin’s excellent commentary on Ecclesiastes. Commenting on Chapter 5:1-3 he makes reference to what he terms the cat and dog theology:

“A dog says, “you pet me, feed me, shelter me and love me; you must be God,” but a cat says, “you pet me, feed me, shelter me, and love me; I must be God.”

This is so insightful for those of us living in our western, individualistic, consumer culture.
