Exodus 15 is a brilliant song of victory (often called Miriam’s song). However, I wondered how it would sound if reimagined to describe an even greater victory — Jesus’ victory over sin and death. This is what I think it might sound like:
“I will sing to the Lord, for he is highly exalted.
Both sin and death he has hurled into the sea of defeat.
The Lord is my strength and my defence, he has become my salvation!
He is my God, and I will praise him, my Christian family’s God, and I will exalt him.
The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is his name.
Satan’s chariots of sin and death he has hurled into the sea of defeat.
The best of Satan’s strategies are drowned in Christ’s victory!
The deep waters of Christ’s victory, at the cross, have covered the tormenting voices of sin and death, yes they sank to the depths like a stone!
This is Christ’s victory!
