Today I had the immense privilege of speaking at the thanksgiving service for a wonderful 11 yr old girl. As part of my message I quoted these words from a hymn penned by a father after hearing that his four children had perished in a tragic boat collision in the middle of the Atlantic. What a beautiful expression of utter dependency upon our loving and sovereign God:
“When peace like a river attendeth my way, When sorrows like sea billows roll, Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say, It is well, it is well with my soul.”
